Dr. Henry T. Leis, MD, FAAOS, is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon specializing in upper extremity surgeries. With a focus on shoulder rotator cuff repair, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, and total and reverse total shoulder replacements, Dr. Leis brings extensive expertise and advanced surgical techniques to his practice.

Dr. Leis holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington at Seattle and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed a general surgery internship at Travis Air Force Base/David Grant Medical Center and an orthopedic surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. Furthering his specialization, he completed a fellowship in shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and microvascular surgery at the San Antonio Hand Center. Dr. Leis is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Orthopedic Society. Dr. Leis is actively involved in community outreach through his church, RLDS Church of Christ, and contributes to philanthropic efforts via his practice's annual charity golf tournament.

Leis's career is marked by significant accomplishments, including 18 years of active duty in the United States Air Force and 6 years in the reserve. He served as a flight surgeon from 1995 to 1997 and was on active duty during the 1st and 2nd Gulf Wars, as well as Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He achieved the rank of Colonel and was honored with the USAF Surgeon General's Award for Outstanding Resident Research (1995), the Roy Davis Outstanding Resident Research Award from the San Antonio Orthopedic Association (2001), the Texas Orthopedic Association Outstanding Resident Research Award (2001), and the Pacific Air Force Outstanding Clinical Surgeon Award (2003).

Currently, Dr. Leis practices at Bienville Orthopedic Specialists, where he focuses on sports medicine and complex upper extremity issues using advanced surgical techniques and minimally invasive procedures. His future projections include a continued focus on innovative surgical techniques and research in small joint arthroplasty.
