CANDOR, N.C., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway (ACWR) is pleased to announce the opening of the first phase of its new Candor Logistics Park located in Montgomery County in Candor, NC. Candor Logistics Park is a 30-acre transload and distribution operation capable of handling over 100 rail cars. The yard is equipped with the space and equipment to support numerous transload operations and ground storage needs. It features certified scales, water, fencing, lighting, security cameras, and automated gate access. The facility will handle multiple commodities, including fuels, food-grade products, plastic resins, and dry bulk commodities such as cement and lime. The facility is on track to remove over 10,000 long-haul trucks from the roads annually, reducing roadway maintenance costs for taxpayers and environmental emissions.
Candor Logistics Park also has two adjacent properties available for industrial development. These properties range from 11 to 20 acres each and are available to manufacturers and distributors requiring rail access to the national rail network. Both sites are graded and "pad-ready" for immediate construction. These sites can handle pad sizes from 100,000 SF to 300,000 SF. These sites aim to attract new or relocating industries with a targeted investment of $50M and creation of 50-100 new jobs.
"Candor Logistics Park has been a goal of the ACWR for several years. Having these two sites available for industrial development opportunities and a distribution operation of this size, situated in central NC, with easy highway access to I-73, is a major win for North Carolina," said Paul Hoben, Director of Business Development for the ACWR.
The Candor Logistics Park is the result of a joint effort by the ACWR and Montgomery County Economic Development, supported by grants from the North Carolina Southeast Partnership and North Carolina Railroad. The ACWR also secured several NCDOT grants through the SIAP and FRDP programs to help bring this project to life. Montgomery County Economic Development Director Savannah Heath said, "Candor Logistics Park represents a true public-private partnership and a long-term investment in Montgomery County's future. This project has been a labor of love for many partners, and we are proud to see it come to fruition as our most development-ready industrial site. Located less than a mile from Interstate 74, with rail access and pad-ready sites, this park positions our community for ongoing growth, new industries, and continued economic momentum."
Located centrally in North Carolina, Candor Logistics Park offers convenient access to Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, as well as many points in between. The Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway interchanges with Norfolk Southern in Charlotte, NC, and CSX Transportation in Aberdeen, NC, giving customers access to the entire national rail network.
